Firefighters from several Boston-area fire departments battled a stubborn and smoky blaze in an historic Quincy building Monday afternoon.
The blaze at the Masonic temple building on Hancock Street started around 12 p.m., the Boston Globe reported.
Quincy firefighters were assisted by crews from Boston and Randolph.
Officials told the Boston Globe that the fire started in the basement of the 87-year-old building where renovations were underway.
“It’s going to be a total loss,” said Quincy Police Captain John Keenan.
