    Photo Story: Tanker Explodes in New Orleans

    An 8,500-gallon gasoline tanker lost control and burst into flames in New Orleans on Oct. 3.

    The three-alarm fire was dispatched at 2:32 a.m. when a wrong-way driver caused the 18 wheeler to crash into a sign at a gas station near Franklin & Claiborne Avenues. The truck caught fire immeditely. 

    Firefighters protected the exposures until it was deemed safe. At that point, crews moved in and contained the fire with foam.

    The driver of the truck was killed and the driver of the car was uninjured.

    This in line eductor has an inlet pressure of 200 PSI. Depending on the location of the fire, it can be brought a significant distance from the engine.

    The second item is a suitable means to apply and control the foam stream. This nozzle must be rated at (or above) the flow rating of the eductor.
    The typical foam eductor is an excellent tool in the tool box, so long as its capabilities and limitations are known. This eductor shown is capable of proportioning foam concentrate to water at various ratios, which makes it an even more effective resource.
