A late-night fire destroyed several businesses in North Minneapolis on Oct. 18.
Crews were dispatched to a basement fire on Lowry and Freemont Avenues around 10 p.m. and found a basement fire burning below row of one-story businesses.
Firefighters tried to attack the fire from the inside, but found that the stairs had burned through.
The fire quickly spread through the building and a second alarm was called.
Crews moved to a defensive attack using multiple handlines and elevated master streams.
A total of five engines, three ladders, one rescue, three chiefs and several special units reponded.
