A single-family home in Santa Barbara County was destroyed by an early evening fire on July 7.
Santa Barbara County firefighters arrived to find a working fire that started on the exterior and spread to the interior of the home.
Multiple hoselines were pulled to protect exposures and begin fire attack.
A second alarm was struck, bringing a total of five Santa Barbara County engines and several chief officers, as well as one engine, truck, breathing support and battalion chief from Santa Maria City.
The cause of the fire was a propane barbecue that was lit too close to the house, and spread to the eaves of the home.
All occupants made it out safely, but the family dog was found deceased by firefighters.
