Photos: Lightning Blamed for Two-alarm Fire in Texas
Firefighters worked to stop a fire before it caused extensive damage to a large two-story home in Fort Worth on Oct. 23.
Fort Worth firefighters were called to the Hillcrest Street home around noon after a powerful storm passed over the neighborhood.
Crews found smoke showing from the home and began an offensive attack. As heavy smoke pushed from the attic of the home, a second alarm was called.
Crews opened the roof and attic spaces to squelch the fire before it spread to the main living area of the home.
The fire was placed under control in about 45 minutes.
A one-alarm house fire just a few miles away claimed the life of a woman in her 60s.
