Fire was shooting from the roof of a Coalgate apartment building when firefighters arrived early on Feb. 16.
The Coalgate Fire Department was dispatched to the two-story, three unit building at 3:13 a.m. One resident was outside the structure and taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
After an aggressive interior attack proved to be incapable of controlling the fire and no occupants were found on a primary search, the incident commander ordered crews to a defensive operation.
Coalgate Ladder 1 was used to contain the blowing embers that were being spread by 20 mph winds.
