On Nov. 22, Nash County firefighters responded to a Thanksgiving Eve fire in Spring Hope.

The fast-spreading fire on Green Road was reported shortly before 7 p.m. by several 911 calls to the Nash County 911 Center. Crews from Spring Hope (Station 6), Momeyer (Station 17) and Stanhope (Station 19) along with Nash County EMS Units were dispatched.

The first arriving engine companies reported a large one-story brick home with fire burning through the roof, according to Spring Hope Assistant Fire Chief Jason Whitford.

Crews went in service with 1/ 3/4- and 2 1/2-inch hoselines.

There were no fire hydrants in the area and three tankers were used to shuttle water to the scene.

Crews eventually deployed five hoselines and a deck gun to contain the fire in 90 minutes.

The residents were not home at the time the fire was reported.

The Nash County Fire Marshal's Office was called to investigate the cause of the fire.
