Worcester, MA, June 5, 2018—Worcester EMS crews—visible in orange helmets on the porch—rescue a man from a house fire. Firefighters knocked down the fire while EMS removed the victim, who was in critical condition. Two dogs were also rescued from the house.

Staten Island, NY, June 16, 2018—FDNY crews respond to a fire in a three-story frame private dwelling on Steinway Avenue, with fire extending to exposures 2, 2A and 4. The fire ultimately damaged five houses. Twenty FDNY members were injured, four seriously, when an interior stairwell collapsed.

Ayer, MA, June 17, 2018—Crews originally doused a railing on fire on the deck of an occupied 2½-story wood-frame dwelling, but later had to return when the fire re-ignited, ultimately reaching five alarms. Temperatures were in the 90s, hampering firefighters’ efforts. Mutual aid from seven area departments assisted in controlling the fire in about one hour.

Baltimore, June 16, 2018—Baltimore City firefighters were dispatched to a reported fire in the 2000 block of McElderry Street (Box Alarm 33-51). Units arrived with heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear "bump-out" of a two-story rowhouse with extension to the adjoining dwelling. Engine 33’s crew stretched an attack line while Truck 1 firefighters worked to ventilate the structure and firefighters stretched an additional line into Side Alpha and opened up the street side of the dwellings. Command requested a Working Fire, and firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 30 minutes.
