March Hot Shots include the Blytheville, AR, Fire Department at the scene of a fully involved structure fire.

BLYTHEVILLE, AR, DEC. 16—The Blytheville Fire Department reported to the scene of a fully involved structure fire with three apparatus and 15 personnel. The structure was an abandoned house that had burned before. The decision was made that it was unsafe to enter. Firefighters were on scene for two hours to ensure that the structure no longer posed a threat.

MEMPHIS, TN, JAN. 31—An apartment fire was reported with occupants trapped inside at the Pinebrook Pointe Apartments. Three children (6 years old, 1 year old and 4 months old) and a man were found unresponsive in the bedroom of an apartment in which cooking oil was left on the stove. Firefighters worked on the children, including doing CPR on the 4-month-old, until an ambulance arrived for transport. All three children died at the hospital, two of them on the day of the fire, the other the next day. The most recent reports had the man in critical condition.

FLORENCE, MT, NOV. 26—First-arriving units from the Florence Rural Fire District found a garage with heavy fire that was spreading into the structure. The heavy fire conditions and a partial structure collapse made for mostly a defensive attack. Mutual aid was provided by the Missoula Rural Fire District, the 3 Mile Fire Department and the Stevensville Rural Fire District. In total, five engines, six water tenders and numerous support units responded with 35 personnel.
