Hot Shots includes Illinois and Indiana fire departments' attempt to save the "Road to Perdition" church.

SEPT. 19, BEECHER, IL—Firefighters from Illinois and Indiana combined efforts in an attempt to save the historic St. Paul’s Lutheran Church from a third-alarm fire. The church was located in an area of the community that doesn’t have fire hydrants, and firefighters had to count on tankers (tenders) to shuttle water from some distance. However, the 156-year-old church, which appeared in the 2002 film, “Road to Perdition,” was destroyed.

The instructors put the student through several ground scenarios that involved handlines as well as scenarios that involved crash trucks. In addition to basic and advanced ARFF classes, the facility provides training regarding aircraft fuel spills and fires that occur in airplane flight decks, wheel-brake systems, passenger cabins and engines.
