Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, Jan. 8—On arrival at a motor vehicle accident, command reported a rolled over and fully involved gasoline tanker truck, a fully involved structure and numerous automobiles burning and requested a second alarm as well as a crash truck from nearby Teterboro Airport. (The crash truck couldn’t respond.) A third alarm was requested along with a foam task force. A fourth alarm was requested for additional water. The main body of fire was knocked down in 40 minutes with three ladder pipes, one deck gun, one BlitzFire and numerous handlines.

Seattle, Jan. 1—Firefighters who were on scene first saw heavy black smoke and heavy fire involvement on multiple floors at a vacant, four-story, residential structure. (A three-alarm fire occurred at the building in June 2022.) Numerous civilians self-evacuated. Twenty-two minutes after the Seattle Fire Alarm Center received multiple 9-1-1 calls, the incident was upgraded to a two-alarm fire. Twenty-five minutes later, it was upgraded to three alarms. Fire spread to the roof, void space and top floor of an attached apartment building, which displaced all residents of that structure.

Queens, NY, Dec. 20—Tower ladders operate their streams into the top floor of a large, six-story, multiple dwelling during a five-alarm fire, where heavy fire and smoke vented from the top floor and roof. The fire was started by a worker illegally using a torch. A door frame and then wood studs caught fire. The fire extended farther into the walls and then through the cockloft. Upward of 200 firefighters responded to the scene. The fire left 14 residents with non-life-threatening injuries and more than 100 displaced. Four firefighters were injured.

Little Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Jan. 8—Just before 3:30 a.m., the Mystic Island Volunteer Fire Company was toned out for a reported structure fire. A 1½-story wood-frame was found fully involved. A second alarm was requested. This brought the Bass River & District Fire Brigade, Eagleswood Township Fire Company, Stafford Township Volunteer Fire Company #1 and West Tuckerton Volunteer Fire Company. Crews pulled 1¾- and 2½-inch lines. Because the roof collapsed, the operation was defensive from its initiation. The fire was under control in about 40 minutes.
