UL Research Institutes, APS Integration to Expand Training Access
In order to help its clients access Fire Safety Academy (FSA) courses in the system they now use for training, APS announced increased training access to the FSA from ULRI's Fire Safety Research Institute.
“This new integration with the FSA directly responds to the needs of our customers, helping them complete and track their training through one system,” said Brad Dover, former fire chief of Monrovia, CA, Fire Department and now an APS client liaison. “It helps us serve them by providing high-quality training materials from the Fire Safety Research Institute.”
In order to guaranty that the fire service has access to top-notch training materials on a variety of subjects, such as fire dynamics, firefighting tactics, firefighter health, lithium-ion batteries, wildland-urban interface fires and more, the FSA provides free, research-backed, self-paced training. More than 35 courses, including brief microlessons and training related to NFPA Professional Qualification Standards, are included in the new offering.
"This new collaboration supports our mission for a safer world and helps us bridge the gap between research and practice," said Meghan Maloney, education and training manager for the Fire Safety Research Institute. “Having our training integrated into the APS FIRE system ensures our content is seamlessly delivered to the people influencing fire preparedness and response in communities across the country.”
