This course is intended for chief officers, company officers, emergency operation center (EOC) staff, incident management team (IMT) members, or other senior public safety staff who may be required to serve as the incident commander, general staff, or in a command role at a special operations incident.

Hazardous materials and technical rescue emergencies will challenge even veteran incident commanders.  This course will prepare fire department and public safety command officers to manage special operations incidents including rope rescues, confined space incidents, trench cave ins, building collapses, and hazardous materials incidents.

The focus of this course will be at the strategic level, including scene management, resource deployment, development of an incident action plan, overseeing site safety, and controlling the operations of specialized response teams.  The training provided will meet and exceed MIOSHA and NFPA competencies for hazmat incident commander and rope, confined space, trench, and collapse rescue awareness.

Prerequisites:  First Responder Operations and ICS 200

Suggested Courses:  Incident Command System (ICS) 300 and Incident Command System (ICS) 400
