Detroit fire crews responded to a blaze early Monday that ravaged the Detroit Disposal & Recycling building.
Crews were called around 12:30 a.m. for a building fire in the 1400 block of E. Milwaukee, said Corey McIsaac, media relations director at the Detroit Fire Department.
The first firefighters arrived in under five minutes and found the building "fully involved," McIsaac said.
Additional firefighters called to battle the two-alarm blaze.
"Crews have been working through the night, rotating companies to ensure firefighters' safety," McIsaac said, adding the fire is now under control. "The building is a total loss. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported at this point, which in and of itself is truly outstanding."
McIssac said Senior Chief Darnell McLaurin noted the crews "did an awesome job, especially considering the extreme weather conditions, containing the fire to the one facility."
According to its website, Detroit Disposal & Recycling serves commercial, industrial and residential industries.
