The cause of a fire that destroyed an East Greenwich funeral home early Sunday remains under investigation.

A number of departments were involved in the operation, East Greenwich Fire Chief William Perry told WJAR.

The cold weather created challenges for crews especially when the two ladder pipes froze.

The bodies that were in the funeral home were taken to other mortuaries. However, John Skeffington, the funeral home operator, said no bodies were at the facility's crematorium.
