Auburn, N.Y. — A dog died and two people were displaced from a home Monday after a fire badly damaged a home in Auburn.

Around 1:32 p.m., firefighters were called to 163 North St. for a house fire, with multiple people reported trapped on the second floor, according to an Auburn Fire Department news release.

When fire crews arrived, they found a 2 1/2-story home with heavy smoke and fire coming from the left side of the house. Two people were rescued from the front porch roof.

Additional units were called in and the fire was brought under control in two hours.

One dog died in the fire, firefighters said. There were no firefighters or civilians injured, they said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
