A fire caused significant damage, including a fully collapsed roof, to a laundromat in Northeast Baltimore on Thursday, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department.

The fire broke out shortly before 5 a.m. at a laundromat near Sunnyside and Nome avenues in the Reisterstown Station neighborhood, progressing within 10 minutes, according to John Marsh, a fire department spokesperson.

There are no injuries, but the blaze escalated to a three-alarm fire, which calls for additional resources, Marsh said.

The fire is being contained, with firefighters remaining on the scene and working to extinguish hot spots.

The laundromat is in a residential area, which complicated containment efforts and led to multiple road closures. Authorities urged the public to avoid Wabash Avenue, extending down to Reisterstown Road, including Northern Parkway, Thursday morning as emergency crews continue to put out the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
