Fire officials worked overnight battling a Lebanon County saw mill fire that continues to burn Tuesday morning.
The fire was first reported at Weaber Lumber on the 1200 block of Mount Wilson Road in South Annville Township around 10 p.m. Monday, according to county dispatch logs.
Within hours, the fire was upgraded to a three-alarm blaze, according to the Neversink Fire Co. Photos of the fire that the department posted on Facebook show thick flames and smoke engulfing the mill.
No injuries were immediately reported.
The Lawn Volunteer Fire Co. told FOX 43 there was a maintenance worker in the mill when the fire started who was able to evacuate safely.
FOX 43 reported the large quantity of materials in the mill contributed to the size of the blaze. Fire officials estimated they’d be on the scene through at least Tuesday morning.
Mount Wilson Road is shut down Tuesday morning because of the fire.
The Monday night fire happened less than a month after Weaber Lumber filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, according to LebTown. The news outlet reported the company had also recently announced plans to lay off 145 employees and close its South Annville Township distribution center, while consolidating operations at the Mount Wilson Road plant where the fire occurred.
