Baltimore Firefighters Tackle Fire in Historic Building

The three-alarm fire in the former police precinct building in Hampden was fanned by high winds.

A three-alarm fire destroyed a historic building in Hampden section of Baltimore.

Firefighters encountered heavy fire and smoke showing from the third floor on the building that once housed a police precinct, WBAL reported.

Several people who operated businesses in the structure safely evacuated.

Firefighters remained at the scene Monday night.

The cause is under investigation.
