As flames intensified at a church, Ford Heights firefighters were evacuated Wednesday afternoon.
Two maintenance workers, who managed to get out on their own, were treated for smoke inhalation.
"They seen (sic) heavy smoke coming from the back of the building. By the time they made entry, there was fire throughout the whole roof. With a water infrastructure that's pretty bad, it's a lot of challenges. So we were pulling waters from multiple sources in town," ." Ford Heights Assistant Fire Chief Lawrence Ewan said told abc7.
After firefighters retreated from the church, the roof collapsed.
While the investigation continues, fire officials do no suspect foul play.
