Police in Haverhill have brought criminal charges against an 18-year-old woman in connection with a large-scale fire at an abandoned mill building.

Isabella Sargent, of Haverhill, was arrested on charges of arson and conspiracy to commit arson, according to the city’s police department on Wednesday.

Sargent is expected to appear in Haverhill District Court on Wednesday for an arraignment.

No injuries have been reported from the fire.

Officials were alerted to heavy smoke and flames coming from the mill property at 14 Stevens St. at about 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday.

Firefighters encountered an intense fire that required additional crews from Methuen, Lawrence, North Andover and Merrimac to help keep it under control.

Certain hot spots could burn for up to a week, according to Haverhill Fire Chief Christopher Cesati. The fire has caused significant structural damage, officials said.

“It’s going to be ongoing for a bit,” Cesati said on Tuesday. “There’s a lot of deep-seated spots as the infrastructure inside drops on itself and we’re not able to gain entry in there. It’s buried and it takes time.”
