Canadian Crew Plucks Mom, Son From Roof

BARRIE, Ont. - A 68-year-old man is dead, and a mother and son are in hospital with non life-threatening injuries, after a stubborn house fire in Barrie, Ont. The blaze began on the main floor of a home on Tiffin Street around 3 a.m. before spreading to the second floor and eventually the attic. Firefighters plucked the mother and son from the roof.

BARRIE, Ont. - A 68-year-old man is dead, and a mother and son are in hospital with non life-threatening injuries, after a stubborn house fire in Barrie, Ont.

The blaze began on the main floor of a home on Tiffin Street around 3 a.m. before spreading to the second floor and eventually the attic.

Firefighters plucked the mother and son from the roof.

Crews were still dousing the blaze more than three hours after it began.

The cause has not been determined.

Fire officials say they will check whether the home was equipped with working smoke detectors. (680News, CHAY)
