Nov. 16--A father and his three daughters were seriously injured in a rollover car crash at 9 a.m. Wednesday on Lake Avenue at the westbound Highway 115 exit.

The daughters, ages 11, 15, and 16, were all ejected from their car and are in critical condition, said Sunny Smaldino, spokeswoman for the Colorado Springs Fire Department.

One daughter was trapped under the car after she was ejected from it, but was freed by firefighters within minutes, Smaldino said.

Smaldino did not know the father's condition, but said he was not as seriously injured as the girls. The driver of the other car was not injured, Smaldino said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Smaldino did not know if the father and the daughters were wearing seat belts.

Two Fort Carson soldiers, one of whom is a medic, saw the crash and stopped to help. The medic assisted EMTs in treating the father and the daughters, Smaldino said.

Westbound Lake Avenue lanes at Highway 115 were closed for a couple of hours Wednesday morning, but were reopened around 11:30 a.m.
