Nov. 12--Residents of a Bedford assisted living facility were evacuated briefly Friday night after a dryer caught fire.
Although no one was injured, a 90-year-old woman was taken to the hospital for what appeared to be an anxiety attack during the fire at Carriage Hill Retirement Center, Bedford Assistant Fire Chief Russell Stevens said.
By the time fire fighters responded to the 8 p.m. fire, staff members had already moved about 40 residents to different parts of the building that were protected by fire walls.

The fire was contained to one dryer in the home's laundry room. After smoke was removed from parts of the building on Roundtree Drive, the residents were returned to their rooms, home administrator Margaret Bates said.
The resident who was hospitalized after fainting was treated and released a few hours later, Bates said.
Bates did not have an estimate Saturday on damage caused by the fire.
