Oct. 29--NORWICH -- Police said a fire rekindled at the Shur Fire wood pellet company on West Thames Street earlier this afternoon.

Police and fire crews from East Great Plain Fire Department were on scene around 1:30 p.m. and temporarily closed a portion of West Thames Street, or Route 32.

The business first caught fire on Thursday night. Crews tended the blaze all night and were still putting out hotspots Friday morning. Contractors were on scene boarding up the windows Friday night, and Saturday, scorched smoke-marks marred the outside of the building.

Police said the business owner opened the door Saturday and was met by a wall of smoke. A dispatcher at the East Great Plain fire department said Saturday afternoon that he believed the original fire was electrical in nature, but the cause has yet to be confirmed by the fire marshal.
