Oct. 24--I-95 north in New Haven was was reopened Monday after being closed for several hours because a piece of burning equipment in danger of exploding, police said. The incident happened around 7:20 a.m., Lt. J. Paul Vance said. The equipment, described as a cylinder, fell off a truck in the area of exit 48, Vance said. It was on fire and firefighters decided to let it burn, he said. Traffic was being diverted off exits 44 and 46, causing long traffic backups in the area.
