Stranded Wis. Cell Tower Workers Rescued

TOWN OF BRISTOL, Wis. -- Two cell tower workers were rescued late Monday after being trapped 110 feet in the air in the Town of Bristol. Kenosha County emergency crews responded to the scene near I-94 and Highway C just before 8 p.m. The workers were working on the tower when their lift got stuck in the mud and malfunctioned leaving them stranded. The fire department told 12 News their ladder trucks are not tall enough to reach the men, so they had to bring in a crane.

Two cell tower workers were rescued late Monday after being trapped 110 feet in the air in the Town of Bristol.

Kenosha County emergency crews responded to the scene near I-94 and Highway C just before 8 p.m.

The workers were working on the tower when their lift got stuck in the mud and malfunctioned leaving them stranded.

The fire department told 12 News their ladder trucks are not tall enough to reach the men, so they had to bring in a crane.

The men were rescued at about 11 p.m.

Crews said it was important to work quickly to help the men get down because they were worried about what would happen to them in the cold weather.
