Coal Train Derailment in Iowa Keeps Crews Busy

DENISON, Iowa -- The Denison Volunteer Fire Department said 18 cars of a train derailed early Sunday. The cars jumped the track at about 6:45 a.m., covering a 500-yard area. Firefighters said it is extremely fortunate that no one was injured. The cars were carrying coal, so the cargo posed no threat to the public. Union Pacific crews were on their way to the scene to deal with the derailment.
