Tractor Hits Plane at San Francisco Airport

SAN FRANCISCO -- A United Airlines plane was struck by a baggage tractor Wednesday while it was parked at the San Francisco International Airport. The incident occurred at 10:45 a.m. and fire crews were on standby in case the incident got out of control. One firefighter used a fire extinguisher on the plane and others doused water on the engine.

A United Airlines plane was struck by a baggage tractor Wednesday while it was parked at the San Francisco International Airport.

The incident occurred at 10:45 a.m. and fire crews were on standby in case the incident got out of control.

One firefighter used a fire extinguisher on the plane and others doused water on the engine.

No passengers were on board the plane and no one was injured during the incident, according to a United Airlines spokesperson.

United Airlines wouldn't comment on how the accident occurred and the United Airlines spokesman based in Chicago declined to give a phone interview.

The plane was taken to the United Airlines maintenance and repair hanger where crews examined it.

The aircraft is currently out of service until crews complete the inspection.

No flight delays were reported as a result of the incident.
