Student Killed in Michigan Corn Silo Accident

BAY COUNTY, Mich. -- Authorities said a teenager is dead after being trapped and suffocating in a Gibson Township corn silo Monday morning. It happened just after 9 a.m. at a farm in northern Bay County. Firefighters and emergency workers from Standish and Bay City were called to a dairy farm, located five miles west of Standish on Stevenson Road. Police said Standish-Sterling junior Tommy Osier, an Arenac County resident, was killed when he fell into the silo.

Authorities said a teenager is dead after being trapped and suffocating in a Gibson Township corn silo Monday morning.

It happened just after 9 a.m. at a farm in northern Bay County.

Firefighters and emergency workers from Standish and Bay City were called to a dairy farm, located five miles west of Standish on Stevenson Road.

Police said Standish-Sterling junior Tommy Osier, an Arenac County resident, was killed when he fell into the silo.

TV5s Brian Wood was at the scene and said rescue workers likened the incident to being stuck in quicksand.
