Three birds are flying freely, thanks to the efforts of some Broward sheriff's firefighters.
Broward sheriff fire rescue's technical rescue team was called to Oriole Elementary School in Lauderdale Lakes on Wednesday after someone realized the baby birds were trapped in an aluminum overhang.
Rescuers used special tools to pinpoint exactly where the birds were trapped, then cut a small opening in the overhang to pull each of the birds out.
The birds were turned over to wildlife rescue.
