Ariz. Firefighters Clean Up Flammable Material
CHANDLER, Ariz. --
A hazmat team from the Chandler Fire Department was cleaning up a very flammable substance Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters said a tank of xylene overflowed spilling a few hundred gallons at Rogers Co. The company sells microwaves.
Investigators said a sensor on the tank is supposed to trigger an alarm when it starts to overflow, but it was broken.
The team is sucking up the substance, but at least one engine from the Fire Department will stay at the scene all day to make sure the xylene doesn't ignite.
