LOUISVILLE, Ky. --
Metro Louisville Fire investigators are trying to find out what caused an overnight fire, sending two children and one firefighter to the hospital.
Colonel Carroll Haueter said there were a number of space heaters inside the house and most of them were connected to extension cords. Investigators said there were no working smoke detectors inside the house.
The fire started before 4 a.m. in the 1800 block of Bolling Avenue. Officials said five people lived inside the house, a mother and her four children.
An 11-year-old girl suffered burns to her face and hands. She is in intensive care at Kosair Children's Hospital. A 9-month-old suffered smoke inhalation. The family left, and went to the hospital before firefighters arrived.
A firefighter suffered a leg injury when he fell down the stairs while fighting the fire. He has been released from the hospital.
