North Carolina Firefighters Worry About Water Supply in Wildfire Battle

DENVER, N.C. --

A fire at an old dump site in Denver is burning 3 acres right now.

The fire marshal said firefighters aren't sure at this time how the fire started at the 10-acre site on N.C. 16, but no homes appear to be in danger.

Firefighters, however, are worried about the water supply. They aren't sure they have enough to put out the blaze. Also because of the drought, the woods surrounding the fire are providing very dry fuel for the flames.

The Catawba County and Lincoln County fire departments have been called in to help.

Eyewitness News is on the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
