KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) -- A brush fire had spread across about 100 acres of desert land about 15 miles west of Kingman by Friday afternoon, forcing some precautionary evacuations although no homes were considered to be threatened.

The Golden Valley fire was 50 to 60 percent contained by late Friday, said Diane Williams, a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Land Management in Lake Havasu City.

She said the fire was near a few buildings but no homes were in danger.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office evacuated some residents in the northwest part of Golden Valley, but sheriff's spokeswoman Sandy Edwards didn't know how many.

Officials said the fire was caused by humans.
