ANKARA, Turkey (AP) -- Six forest workers were killed Thursday as they battled a forest fire near the southern resort city of Antalya, an official said.
Rescuers were unable to retrieve the bodies because the blaze was still burning near the town of Gundogmus, some 80 kilometers (50 miles) east of Antalya, Mustafa Kurtulmuslu, a forestry official, told private CNN-Turk television.
The fire covered less than a hectare (a few acres), the Anatolia news agency said.
``Six crew members who were dispatched to the scene by helicopter lost their lives when winds changed direction and the fire engulfed them,'' Kurtulmuslu told CNN-Turk.
CNN-Turk said an arson attack had caused a fire in the same area on Sunday and authorities again suspected arson as the source of Thursday's blaze.
