TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Recreation areas that were burned by the Aspen Fire are scheduled to reopen Friday, according to forest officials.
Trails were repaired and fire-weakened trees were removed so the area can again be used for recreational activities, said Bob Magon, a Coronado National Forest spokesman.
The Aspen fire near Tucson was the most destructive wildfire in Arizona last year, burning 84,000 acres of timberland and destroying about 335 homes.
Forest officials caution visitors to stay alert and avoid rolling rocks, fire-weakened trees, flash flooding and other hazards left behind from the fire.
