MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. (AP) -- A wildfire in southwestern Oregon is now 70 percent contained, with damage estimated at $2.4 million.
Intermittent rain has helped slow Bland Mountain Fire No. 2, fire crews said. Ten helicopters and 1,659 firefighters were battling the blaze, which broke out Friday about 40 miles southeast of Roseburg.
The fire has already burned 4,667 acres. The cause remains under investigation.
Roads in the area remained open, but Oregon Department of Forestry officials asked motorists not to stop along Tiller Trail Highway during helicopter water drop operations.
