KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) -- Fire crews are trying to contain a small but problematic wildfire in south-central Oregon that has closed a major route to Klamath Falls.
The Modoc Point fire is so far only 200 acres, but David Widmark, a spokesman for the Northwest Interagency Coordination center, said it was ``burning very actively.''
The fire in the Winema National Forest has closed Highway 97, which is 15 miles north of Klamath Falls. The highway is not expected to reopen until at least 9 p.m. Tuesday night.
Widmark said the fire, which is believed to be human caused, has 100 people fighting it, as well as three helicopters, two small tankers and one large air tanker.
