CAREFREE, Ariz. (AP) -- Firefighters fully contained a blaze on Sunday that burned 950 acres on the Tonto National Forest.

Fire officials say rain helped firefighters fighting the blaze, which burned eight miles north of Carefree.

The Humboldt fire started as two separate blazes that later merged.

It had previously threatened a U.S. Forest Service lookout tower and two Federal Aviation Administration buildings, but crews conducted burnouts and secured those facilities, said Emily Garber, a forest spokeswoman.
