Hundreds Evacuated as Utah Fire Burns Out of Control

At least five hundred people were ordered from thier homes. An evacuation was issued for the Fruit Heights area as the fire made it's way north along the bench.

The fire came dangerously close to homes, but firefighters were able keep the blaze away from structures.

By early Friday the blaze had consumed hundreds of acres of dry grass and brush and sent a huge plume of smoke into the sky.

The wind was pushing the flames back up the mountain, firefighters are concerned about fire moving to the south toward Centerville and further to the north in the Fruit Heights area.

Smoke was causing some visibility problems on roads and highways.

An air tanker and two helicopters were working the fire along with dozens of firefighters from all over Davis County and the Forest Service.

Police say a man identified as 33-year-old Joseph Hinds Bruhl started the fire because
