Pocatello firefighters rescued two Idaho State University students from an apartment fire Saturday.
The fire started in the kitchen of a fourth-floor unit around 6:30 p.m., according to the Idaho State Journal.
Firefighters used a ladder to rescue the students and two cats from a fourth-story window.
Mayor Brian Blad said firefighters "did a great job,” adding that they evacuated dozens of students from the smoke-filled building.
Officials say the fire was accidental and an detection system triggered the alarms that notified students and firefighters.
Several units in the Schubert Heights apartment complex, located on the south side of the ISU campus, were damaged.
The fire was contained in about an hour.
