Smoke from a basement fire Thursday at WellSpan Gettsyburg Hospital spread through the building, and firefighters needed to break through walls to find the source.

Smoke from a small basement fire Thursday morning forced patients to be moved to other parts of a Pennsylvania hospital as more than 25 units responded to the blaze.

The fire began in a utility room in the basement of WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital after a contractor struck fiberboard while drilling into a wall, the Evening Sun reports. Smoke from the burning fiberboard then traveled up through the hospital's walls and to the roof.

Gettysburg Fire Chief Hurshel Shank told the Sun that the fire "was not a large incident, but it was a complicated incident." According to WHTM-TV, firefighters needed to break through hospital walls to find the source of the smoke, which caused damaged throughout the building.

No one was hurt in the fire, but some patients were relocated to other parts of the hospital, and outpatient services were closed for the day, the Sun reports. The hospital's cafeteria near the utility room also was closed because of the fire.
