LA Firefighter Burned after Roof Fall

The Jefferson Parish East Bank firefighter was assisting an interior team battling an apartment blaze over the weekend when he fell through the building's roof.

A Louisiana firefighter was hurt when fell through an apartment roof while battling a fire at the building over the weekend.

Jefferson Parish East Bank firefighter Dan Zeigler was pulled from the Metairie apartment building following his fall Saturday, WVUE-TV reports. He had been helping an interior team fighting the fire when he fell.

Zeigler suffered second-and third-degree burns and was taken to a nearby hospital. A firefighter who helped rescue Zeigler also suffered burns to his fingers, according to the TV station.

“We ask for continued prayers for Dan Zeigler and his family and thank all of our firefighters for putting their lives on the line every time they get a call,” Chief Dave Tibbet said during a press conference Sunday.
