Two NC Firefighters Hurt in Residential Blaze

The Fayetteville firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion after battling a fire that caused around $40,000 in damage to a single-story house Friday.

Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion after they responded to a residential fire Friday morning, the Fayetteville Fire Department said in a news release.

Firefighters were dispatched at 11:16 a.m. to the residential structure fire at 7009 Pantego Drive in the Montibello subdivision, the release said. First responders reported heavy fire from the single-story residence.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control, according to the release.

Two firefighters were treated on the scene for heat exhaustion by Cape Fear Valley EMS, the release said. They were then sent home as a precaution, Fire Marshal T.J. McLamb said.

No victims were found inside the residence during search efforts, the release said.

Damages were estimated at $40,000, according to the release. A fire investigation team was called to investigate.
