Sending Out Call for Papers for Firehouse Expo 2020

Firehouse is sending out a call for papers for Expo 2020, which returns to Nashville, TN, from July 21–25, marking our fifth consecutive year in Music City.

We are always looking for ways to improve education delivery during our preconference and main conference sessions at Firehouse Expo. Firehouse plans to offer a combination of 60-minute, 90-minute and 120-minute sessions to allow for the proper time to deliver your content, so please consider which time frame would be best suited for your submissions.

"Firehouse Expo attendees come to Nashville to dedicate their time to learn from instructors who have experiences and knowledge to share with the fire service," said Firehouse Editor in Chief and Conference Director Peter Matthews. "We are hoping that new firefighters and officers who are willing to share their stories will submit to present next year."

The topics you can submit vary from entry-level skills and tips to navigating your career and preparing for promotions. Topics of interest include: 

• Apparatus (emergency driving, operations, specification & maintenance)
• Firefighter Safety, Health and Survival (fitness and nutrition, behavioral health, fireground survival skills, mayday emergencies) 
• Fire Service Leadership (basic and advanced leadership covering emergency and non-emergency topics)
• Fire Service Technology & Communications (unmanned systems, computer software, etc.) 
• Fire Service Training & Operations (tactics and training ideas, size-up and incident mitigation)
• Prevention & Investigation (case studies, prevention outreach and community risk assessment)
• Professional Development (company/chief officer development, decision-making, etc.)
• Technical Rescue Operations (vehicle extrication, trench, high angle, hazardous materials, etc.)
