Cops: OH Crews Find Pot Growing Operation at House Fire

Oct. 25, 2019
Cuyahoga Falls police seized 30 marijuana plants and other items after a tip from firefighters, who noticed the contraband while putting out a fire at the home earlier.

A house fire earlier this week in Cuyahoga Falls has led to a criminal marijuana cultivation charge, according to police.

A Cuyahoga Falls man is scheduled to be in court Friday on a charge he was growing marijuana inside a Hudson Drive home, Falls police said in a news release.

Bryan W. Darlington, 55, will be arraigned in Stow Municipal Court on a charge of illegal cultivation of marijuana, police said.

The charge grew out of a fire 7 p.m. Tuesday at 3372 Hudson Drive, police said.

Firefighters said as they worked to put out the fire inside the residence they noticed what appeared to be marijuana growing and contacted police.

Police obtained a search warrant and said they found about 30 marijuana plants, "multiple jars" of harvested marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the release. Police said they also found indoor plant-growing equipment.

The home is in a residential neighborhood south of Graham Road and east of Ross Park.
