The blaze broke out in the basement of a two-apartment house in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood Wednesday night, sending one firefighter to the hospital.

Six people were displaced and a firefighter was injured after a blaze Wednesday night in Dorchester, officials said.

The two-apartment home, located at 37 Mountain Ave., caught fire around 9 p.m., according to Boston Fire Department spokesman Brian Alkins. One family occupies both apartments, he said.

A firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Alkins.

The blaze started in the basement of the home, which is two and half stories, and it was put out about 30 minutes later. Damages were estimated at $125,000, Alkins said.

The American Red Cross is working with the displaced residents to find them housing, according to him.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, he said.
