A three-alarm fire burned through the Queens location of a popular Chinese restaurant chain Thursday, according to the FDNY. It was one of two three-alarm blazes that FDNY firefighters battled Thursday, with crews later responding to a large apartment fire in the Bronx that displaced a dozen families.
The first blaze had 140 firefighters arriving at Xi'an Famous Foods in Long Island City just before 1:30 p.m., WNBC-TV reports. It took crews about two hours to control the fire, which caused extensive damage to the business.
One person was injured in the fire, but those injuries weren't considered life-threatening. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
Another three-alarm fire broke out at about 6 p.m. on several floors of at an apartment building in the Concourse area of the Bronx, WABC-TV reports. Crews cut open the roof and worked quickly to prevent flames from spreading to nearby buildings
The fire displaced at least 12 families, including 30 adults and 22 kids, WABC added. No injuries were reported, and the incident is under investigation.
