Crews from Four CT Departments Respond to Fiery Home Blast

May 26, 2020
Firefighters from multiple fire companies encountered fierce flames and thick smoke as they tackled a residential blast and blaze in Berlin that injured at least person.

Officials are investigating a fiery explosion that injured one person and caused serious damage to a Berlin house Monday.

Four fire companies responded to a report of a fire and possible collapse at 239 Christian Lane shortly after 10:45 a.m., the fire department said. When firefighters arrived, they encountered fierce flames and heavy smoke in a home that was missing at least one wall.

Pictures on a fire department website show piles of bricks in front of the burning home. They apparently landed there after a blast.

Firefighters learned that one person had been removed from the burning house; the occupant was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital. The person’s condition wasn’t clear Tuesday morning.
